To all

It has been in my mind since convention last year what my future would be with American Legion of the state of New Hampshire.  With recent comments from different members about my attendance and not getting a full support of some officers of district and state, I feel I have worn out my welcome on being a district commander and a member of the convention comm.  When I was asked by Commander Blais if I wished to stay on it I spoke and said yes.  But learning my slot has already been taken by another member its plain that all the work I put in that committee over last 6 years amounts to nothing.  But that’s legion and my situation with my own district.   It’s for the best for me to step down and let someone who has more time and tolerance with the pressures of being a commander.  In the past year I lost my wife, a job and have had ca.  I thought I could take a lot but I’m at my last straw.  I have traveled this state from one end to the other.  Its cost me a lot of time and money but I believe in the legion.  But the amount I have done I don't want any praise but for all to think how we treat people that give 100% and is a believer in the org.   Dave - you been there for me many times and I wish you the best.   Commander Blais - you have a successful year that’s left!  The office staff has been helpful and thanks you.  My district thanks you for having the honor to serve you!   I will be around but not around the state like I was in past years.  My work has a lot to do with this also and you need a job to pay the bills.  I will get together with you Dave next week and turn over all my info and materials.  It won't be like the previous commander did to me.  I will hold my head high because I know I did my job in serving the last state commanders.

Thank You for the last time.

Ernie Jones District 5 Commander.
